S. Martin (1941).\n\n## Explanations\n\n### L1 human\n\nOn any reasonable domain, every positive harmonic function is a mixture of special building blocks attached to points of an ideal boundary.\nThe building blocks are the minimal harmonic functions, and the mixture is described by a unique measure.\nFor the ball this is the familiar Poisson representation.\n\n### L2 human\n\nThe theorem reduces questions about all positive harmonic functions to questions about the minimal ones and about measures on the Martin boundary.\nIt is the starting point for fine boundary limits, where Naïm's thin sets and Doob's conditioned Brownian motion describe how $h / M(\\cdot, \\xi)$ behaves near $\\xi$.\nFor Lipschitz domains, the boundary Harnack principle shows that $\\Delta = \\Delta_1$ is the Euclidean boundary.\nThe same scheme applies to Markov chains, where it describes all positive harmonic functions of a transition operator.\n",
