Bessel potential space

Summary

A Bessel potential space Hs,p(ℝn)H^{s,p}(\R^n) consists of the functions or tempered distributions whose "derivative of order ss" lies in LpL^p. The derivative of order ss is defined on the Fourier side by multiplication with (1+∣ξ∣2)s/2(1 + \abs{\xi}^2)^{s/2}, so ss may be any real number. These spaces extend the Sobolev spaces Wk,pW^{k,p} to fractional and negative orders, and for p=2p = 2 they are the fractional Sobolev spaces HsH^s. They are a standard scale of spaces for elliptic equations and for interpolation.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
