Cauchy–Riemann operator

Summary

The Cauchy–Riemann operator is the first-order differential operator ∂/∂zˉ=12(∂x+i∂y)\partial / \partial \bar z = \tfrac12 (\partial_x + i \partial_y) on complex-valued functions of z=x+iyz = x + iy. A continuously differentiable function ff is holomorphic exactly when ∂f/∂zˉ=0\partial f / \partial \bar z = 0, which is a compact form of the Cauchy–Riemann equations. It is the simplest elliptic operator, with fundamental solution 1/(πz)1/(\pi z). Its several-variable version, the ∂ˉ\bar\partial operator, is a main tool of complex analysis and complex geometry.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
