Completely monotone function

Summary

A completely monotone function is an infinitely differentiable function on (0,∞)(0, \infty) whose derivatives alternate in sign: f≥0f \ge 0, f′≤0f' \le 0, f′′≥0f'' \ge 0, and so on. It is the mirror image of an absolutely monotonic function under x↦−xx \mapsto -x. By Bernstein's theorem, the completely monotone functions are exactly the Laplace transforms of positive measures on [0,∞)[0, \infty). This makes them central in probability and potential theory.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
