Coupling
Summary
A coupling of two probability measures and is a joint law of a pair . In it, has law and has law . The two marginals are fixed, but the dependence between and is free to choose. A clever choice turns a comparison of two laws into a comparison of two random variables on one space. Couplings are a main tool for bounds in total variation distance, for convergence of Markov chains, for stochastic ordering and in optimal transport.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
