Discrete-time Fourier transform

Summary

The discrete-time Fourier transform turns a sequence (xn)n∈ℤ(x_n)_{n \in \Z} into a 2π2\pi-periodic function X(ω)=∑nxne−iωnX(\omega) = \sum_n x_n e^{-i \omega n} of a continuous frequency ω\omega. It is the Fourier transform of the group ℤ\Z, whose dual group is the circle. Read backwards, it is a Fourier series: up to the sign of the index, the sequence consists of the Fourier coefficients of XX. It is the basic tool for analysing digital filters and sampled signals. Sampling the frequency variable at NN points leads to the discrete Fourier transform. See the definition.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
