Fourier series on the torus

Summary

A Fourier series on the torus 𝕋n=ℝn/ℤn\mathbb{T}^n = \R^n / \Z^n expands a function that is periodic in each of nn variables into waves. There is one wave e2πik⋅xe^{2\pi i k \cdot x} for each integer vector k∈ℤnk \in \Z^n. For n=1n = 1 it is the classical Fourier series of a periodic function. The coefficients form a function on ℤn\Z^n. The passage from ff to its coefficients is a case of the Fourier transform on locally compact abelian groups, for the compact group 𝕋n\mathbb{T}^n. Convergence in several variables depends on how the partial sums are formed, for example over cubes or over balls in ℤn\Z^n. See the definition.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
