Morin singularities

Summary

The Morin singularities are the stable singularities of smooth maps whose differential drops rank by exactly one. For maps between manifolds of the same dimension nn they form one sequence, with one member for each order kk with 1≤k≤n1 \le k \le n. It begins with the fold, the cusp and the swallowtail. Morin gave their normal forms, and they are exactly the generic corank one singularities. Their Thom–Boardman symbol is (1,1,…,1,0)(1, 1, \ldots, 1, 0) with kk ones.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
