Quantum calculus

Summary

Quantum calculus is calculus without limits. It replaces the derivative by a difference quotient taken at a fixed scale. The q-derivative compares f(qx)f(qx) with f(x)f(x), and the hh-derivative compares f(x+h)f(x + h) with f(x)f(x). The matching antiderivatives are the Jackson integral and finite sums. It is the natural language for q-analogs in combinatorics, for basic hypergeometric series and for q-difference equations. It recovers ordinary calculus in the limit q→1q \to 1 or h→0h \to 0.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
