Shifted Legendre polynomials

Summary

The shifted Legendre polynomials are the Legendre polynomials moved from the interval [−1,1][-1, 1] to the interval [0,1][0, 1]. They are given by P~n(x)=Pn(2x−1)\tilde{P}_n(x) = P_n(2x - 1). They are orthogonal on [0,1][0, 1] for the constant weight. So they are the natural polynomial basis for least squares and Gaussian quadrature on the unit interval.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
