Subadditive function

Summary

A subadditive function is a function ff with f(x+y)≤f(x)+f(y)f(x + y) \le f(x) + f(y) for all x,yx, y in its domain. The triangle inequality says that every norm is subadditive, and every sublinear function is subadditive. For subadditive sequences, Fekete's lemma shows that f(n)/nf(n)/n converges to its infimum, which may be −∞-\infty. This makes subadditivity a basic tool for growth rates in analysis, combinatorics and ergodic theory.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
