Topological mixing

Summary

A continuous map is topologically mixing when every nonempty open set, after some time, meets every other nonempty open set at all later times. It strengthens topological transitivity, which only asks for one such time. It is the topological counterpart of strong mixing in ergodic theory. Expanding maps such as the doubling map of the circle are mixing, while rotations are never mixing.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
