Weierstrass zeta and sigma functions

Summary

For a lattice Λ\Lambda in ℂ\C, the Weierstrass sigma function σ\sigma is an entire function with a simple zero at each lattice point. The Weierstrass zeta function is its logarithmic derivative ζ=σ′/σ\zeta = \sigma'/\sigma. They are companions of the Weierstrass elliptic function ℘\wp, since ζ′=−℘\zeta' = -\wp. Neither is elliptic: shifting by a period adds a constant to ζ\zeta and multiplies σ\sigma by an exponential factor. They are the building blocks for writing any elliptic function from its zeros and poles.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
