Abel function

Summary

An Abel function of a map ff is a solution α\alpha of the Abel equation α(f(x))=α(x)+1\alpha(f(x)) = \alpha(x) + 1. It is a coordinate in which one step of ff becomes a shift by 11. When α\alpha is injective, it defines a whole family of iterates ft=α−1∘(α+t)f^t = \alpha^{-1} \circ (\alpha + t), one for each real tt in a suitable range. Abel functions are the standard tool for fractional iteration, for example in the construction of iterates of the exponential function.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
