Abel function
Builds on Abel equationFunction
Definition
Let be a set and let be a map. An Abel function of is a function that satisfies the Abel equation Many authors also require to be injective, or, for real , continuous and strictly monotone.
Remarks
Example: for on , is an Abel function, since . Non-example: for the same , is not an Abel function, since and . If is an injective Abel function and is real with , then satisfies and , so solves the translation equation where it is defined. In the example, .
