Angle between two vectors
Builds on Euclidean vectorLength of a vector
Definition
Let be a positive integer, and let and be nonzero vectors in . Let be their dot product, and let and be their lengths. The angle between and is the unique real number with such that The Cauchy–Schwarz inequality makes sure that the quotient is in . Thus exists.
Remarks
The angle is if and only if for a real number . It is if and only if for a real number . The angle does not depend on the order of the vectors. It does not change when you multiply or by a positive number. Mathlib uses the same formula for all vectors. With the convention , the angle between the zero vector and any vector is then .
