Several complex variables and analytic spaces Definition
Bergman metric
Definition
Let be a bounded domain. Let be its Bergman kernel, the reproducing kernel of the Bergman space of holomorphic functions in . The Bergman metric of is the Hermitian metric
Remarks
On a bounded domain , so is defined and smooth. The matrix is positive definite at every point; the bounded functions and in give this positivity. If is a biholomorphism, then , and the factors disappear under , so is an isometry. Example: for the unit disc, , so and . Example: for the unit ball of , the Bergman metric is times the metric with potential . Non-example: for the Bergman space is , so and the definition does not apply. The Bergman metric is a Kähler metric, since it has a global potential.
