Branch of the logarithm

Summary

A branch of the logarithm on an open set U⊆ℂ∖{0}U \subseteq \mathbb{C} \setminus \{0\} is a continuous function LL on UU with eL(z)=ze^{L(z)} = z, see the definition. On a domain, two branches differ by a constant integer multiple of 2πi2\pi i.
