Coherent analytic sheaf
Builds on Complex analytic spaceSheaf of modules
Definition
Let be a complex analytic space and let be a sheaf of -modules. The sheaf is of finite type if each point of has an open neighbourhood with a surjective morphism for some . The sheaf is a coherent analytic sheaf if:
- is of finite type;
- for every open , every integer and every morphism of sheaves of modules, the kernel of is of finite type.
Remarks
Example: the sheaf is coherent for every complex space ; for this is the Oka coherence theorem, and the general case follows from it. Given it, a sheaf is coherent if and only if it has, locally, a presentation .
Non-example: let , , and let be the sheaf of holomorphic functions on extended by zero to . Its stalk at is and its stalks at other points are . A section of on a connected open set is a holomorphic function on that vanishes near , so it is zero by the identity theorem. So no finite set of sections over a neighbourhood of generates the nonzero stalks near , and clause 1 fails.
