Concentration of measure
Definition
Let be a metric space and a Borel probability measure on . For a Borel set and , let . The concentration function of is A sequence of such spaces exhibits concentration of measure, and is called a normal Lévy family, if there are constants with
Remarks
Example: take the unit sphere of with the geodesic metric and the normalized surface measure. Lévy's isoperimetric inequality gives such a bound with absolute constants and , so the spheres form a normal Lévy family. The Gaussian measure on concentrates with a bound that does not depend on the dimension: if , then . Non-example: the two-point space with and ; for and one has , so for . An equivalent form: for every -Lipschitz function with median .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
