Convolution on the line

Summary

The convolution of two functions ff and gg on the real line is the function (f∗g)(x)=∫ℝf(y)g(x−y) dy(f * g)(x) = \int_\R f(y) g(x - y) \, dy. It is the case G=ℝG = \R of the general convolution on a group. It models the output of a linear time-invariant system and the density of a sum of independent random variables. It also describes the smoothing of a function by a kernel. The Fourier transform turns it into a pointwise product.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
