Cross product
Builds on Euclidean vector
Definition
Let and be vectors in . The cross product of and is the vector
Remarks
For the standard basis vectors , , of : , and . If is the angle between nonzero vectors and , then . This is the area of the parallelogram with the sides and . The cross product is perpendicular to its factors and anticommutative. It is bilinear, but it is not associative. In the usual right-handed coordinates, , and follow the right-hand rule. The physics notation is also used.
