Cubic Hermite spline
Builds on Hermite interpolationSplineContinuously differentiable function
Definition
Let be real nodes, and let and be real numbers. Let . The cubic Hermite spline for these data is the function given on each by where and
Remarks
The piece on is the unique cubic with , , and , that is, a Hermite interpolant. Check: , , , , , and the other values and slopes at and vanish. So is a spline of class , but in general not of class . Example: nodes with and give . Non-example: the piecewise linear interpolant of the same values is not a cubic Hermite spline for these slopes, since its slope on is , not . When the slopes are not given, they are chosen from the values, for instance by finite differences (Catmull–Rom spline) or by monotonicity-preserving rules.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
