Dawson function
Builds on Exponential functionDefinite integral
Definition
The Dawson function is the function given by where denotes the exponential function and the integral is a definite integral.
Remarks
Example: , and is odd because is even. The product rule gives the differential equation , with .
Non-example: is not the Dawson function; the signs of the exponents are swapped, and this function grows without bound.
With the imaginary error function one has . For large , . Some texts call this and also use , which is the non-example above.
