de Boor's algorithm
Definition
Let be an order and let be a nondecreasing knot sequence. Let , where are the B-splines of order and the are real numbers or points of . Let be a point with . De Boor's algorithm computes as follows.
- Set for .
- For and , set
- Return , which equals .
Remarks
The denominators are positive, since in the stated range, and , so each step is a convex combination. Correctness follows from the Cox–de Boor recursion: one step rewrites as , and at order only survives. Example: , knots , , so ; then and , which is the piecewise linear interpolant at the midpoint. Non-example: for outside the same formulas with this do not give in general, because other B-splines are active there. The cost is operations per point.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
