Desargues configuration
Builds on ConfigurationDesargues's theorem
Example
The Desargues configuration is a configuration in the projective plane. Take two triangles and in perspective from a point , so that , , are collinear for . Let be the intersection of the sides and . By Desargues's theorem, the three points , , lie on a line, the axis.
Its points are , the six vertices and the three points . Its lines are the three lines , the six sides of the triangles and the axis. Check: each line has of the points, for instance the side contains , , . Each point lies on lines. For instance, lies on the lines , the vertex on , , , and on , and the axis.
A combinatorial model: the points are the -element subsets of and the lines are the -element subsets, with incidence by inclusion. Each -set contains three -sets, and each -set lies in three -sets. Its incidence graph is the Desargues graph.
