Determinate moment problem

Summary

A moment problem is determinate when exactly one measure has the given moments. Then the moments determine the measure, and in probability the moments determine the law of a random variable. This justifies the method of moments in limit theorems. If the moments of a sequence of laws converge to those of a determinate law, the laws converge to it. Determinacy holds on bounded sets, and on unbounded sets under growth conditions such as Carleman's condition.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
