Dilogarithm
Builds on PolylogarithmComplex logarithm
Definition
The dilogarithm is the function given by Here is the principal branch of the complex logarithm. The path of integration lies in , except possibly for its endpoint . The function is holomorphic on and continuous at .
Remarks
For it agrees with the series , so it is the polylogarithm . The integral does not depend on the path, because is simply connected and the integrand is holomorphic there (the singularity at is removable).
Example: , and . Euler's reflection formula at gives .
Non-example of a valid argument: for real the point lies on the cut . The limits of from above and below the cut differ by , so has no continuous extension there.
