Definition
Let be a set and let be a map. The discrete-time dynamical system generated by is the pair , viewed as the dynamical system with . Here is the -th iterate of , with . If is a bijection, the system is invertible, and is defined for all . Here is the -th iterate of the inverse map .
Remarks
The forward orbit of is the sequence . Every dynamical system with time arises in this way, with , since clause 2 of the definition of a dynamical system forces .
Example: and . Then , and since is a bijection the system is invertible with .
Non-example of an invertible system: on generates a discrete-time system, but it is not invertible, because .
Usually is a topological space and is continuous, or is a measure space and is measurable.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
