Energy of a map between Riemannian manifolds
Summary
The energy of a smooth map between Riemannian manifolds is half the integral, over the domain, of the squared norm of its differential. It generalizes the Dirichlet energy of a function and the energy of a path. Its critical points are the harmonic maps, and its gradient is minus the tension field. It measures how much a map stretches the domain on average.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
