Fox H-function
Definition
Let be integers with and . Let and be complex numbers and let and be positive real numbers. Let be the gamma function. Fix and a branch of , and put . Assume that no pole of a factor with coincides with a pole of a factor with , where . Let be a path that separates the poles of the factors from the poles of the factors . Choose so that the integral below converges. The Fox H-function is the Barnes integral
Remarks
When all and equal , the substitution turns the integral into that of the Meijer G-function, so equals with the same parameters . Example: for . Check: the integrand is on a line ; closing to the left, the residues at sum to . Non-example: a scale is not allowed; then is a constant and the integrand has no poles to collect, so the scales must be positive. The Fox–Wright function and the Mittag-Leffler function are special H-functions.
