Fox H-function transforms

Builds on Integral transformFox H-function

Definition

Fix integers 0≤m≤q0 \le m \le q and 0≤n≤p0 \le n \le p, complex numbers a1,…,apa_1, \dots, a_p, b1,…,bqb_1, \dots, b_q, and positive reals A1,…,ApA_1, \dots, A_p, B1,…,BqB_1, \dots, B_q. Let H(z)H(z) be the Fox H-function Hp,qm,nH^{m,n}_{p,q} with the parameter pairs (aj,Aj)(a_j, A_j) and (bj,Bj)(b_j, B_j). Let f ⁣:(0,∞)→ℂf \colon (0, \infty) \to \C be such that the integral below converges for yy in a set Y⊆(0,∞)Y \subseteq (0, \infty). The H-transform of ff with these parameters is the function g(y)=∫0∞H(xy) f(x) dx,y∈Y.g(y) = \int_0^\infty H(xy)\, f(x)\, dx, \qquad y \in Y.

Remarks

The Mellin transform of the kernel is ℳH(s)=∏j=1mΓ(bj+Bjs)∏j=1nΓ(1−aj−Ajs)∏j=m+1qΓ(1−bj−Bjs)∏j=n+1pΓ(aj+Ajs),\mathcal{M} H(s) = \frac{\prod_{j=1}^{m} \Gamma(b_j + B_j s) \prod_{j=1}^{n} \Gamma(1 - a_j - A_j s)}{\prod_{j=m+1}^{q} \Gamma(1 - b_j - B_j s) \prod_{j=n+1}^{p} \Gamma(a_j + A_j s)}, and formally ℳg(s)=ℳH(s) ℳf(1−s)\mathcal{M} g(s) = \mathcal{M} H(s)\, \mathcal{M} f(1 - s).

Example: with all Aj=Bj=1A_j = B_j = 1, the kernel is a Meijer G-function and the H-transform is a Meijer G-function transform. In particular m=q=1m = q = 1, n=p=0n = p = 0, b1=0b_1 = 0, B1=1B_1 = 1 gives the kernel e−ze^{-z}, whose Mellin transform is Γ(s)\Gamma(s), and the H-transform is the Laplace transform.

Example with a scale different from 11: m=q=1m = q = 1, n=p=0n = p = 0, b1=0b_1 = 0, B1=1/2B_1 = 1/2 gives the kernel with Mellin transform Γ(s/2)\Gamma(s/2), which is 2e−z22 e^{-z^2}. The check is ∫0∞2e−z2zs−1 dz=Γ(s/2)\int_0^\infty 2 e^{-z^2} z^{s-1}\, dz = \Gamma(s/2), by the substitution u=z2u = z^2.

Non-example: if some AjA_j or BjB_j is 00 or negative, the parameters are outside the definition of the H-function.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
