Fresnel integrals
Builds on Sine and cosineDefinite integral
Definition
The Fresnel integrals are the functions given by the definite integrals where and are the sine and cosine.
Remarks
Example: and are odd, since the integrands are even, and . The curve has velocity of length , so is its arc length, and its direction angle gives curvature . This curve is the Euler spiral.
Non-example: is not a Fresnel integral; the square must be inside the sine.
As , and , as one sees by rotating the contour of the Gaussian integral. Many references use the normalisation and instead; then both limits are .
