Functional inequality
Builds on FunctionFunctional equation
Definition
Let be a set, let be a set of functions , and let . Let be a set. Let and be rules that assign a real number to each and each . The rules are built from , the variables and fixed given functions by composition and arithmetic operations. The functional inequality given by and is the condition and a solution is a function that satisfies it.
Remarks
Example: the subadditivity inequality on , with . The function is a solution: both sides are nonnegative, and squaring gives .
Non-example: is not a solution of the same inequality, since .
As with a functional equation, the class matters: one may ask for all solutions, or only for continuous, measurable or bounded ones. A system that mixes equations and inequalities is also common, for example a function that is additive and bounded above.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
