Hierarchical matrix
Summary
A hierarchical matrix, or -matrix, is a matrix split into a hierarchy of blocks. Each block that couples well-separated groups of indices has low rank. Such matrices are stored and multiplied with a vector in about operations instead of . Approximate inverses and factorizations can be kept in the same format. This gives fast solvers for the dense matrices of integral equations and for finite element matrices.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
