Hodge Laplacian

Summary

The Hodge Laplacian is the operator Δ=dδ+δd\Delta = d\delta + \delta d on differential forms of a Riemannian manifold, built from the exterior derivative dd and its adjoint δ\delta. On functions it is the Laplace–Beltrami operator, up to sign convention. It is elliptic, self-adjoint and nonnegative, and on a closed manifold its kernel, the harmonic forms, represents the de Rham cohomology. This is the content of Hodge theory, which links analysis on a manifold with its topology.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
