Definition
Let , and be complex manifolds. A holomorphic fiber bundle over with fibre and total space is a surjective holomorphic map with the following property. Each point of has an open neighbourhood and a biholomorphism with on .
Remarks
The underlying smooth map is a fiber bundle in the usual sense. On overlaps the trivializations differ by maps , where each is a biholomorphism of that depends holomorphically on . When and each is linear, the bundle is a holomorphic vector bundle.
Example: the map , , with fibre . Over the map is a biholomorphism , with inverse , and similarly over .
Non-example: , . Each fibre over is biholomorphic to , but the fibre over is the union of the two axes, which is not a manifold. So no neighbourhood of has a trivialization.
By a theorem of Fischer and Grauert, a proper holomorphic submersion between connected complex manifolds whose fibres are all biholomorphic to one another is a holomorphic fiber bundle.
