Definition
Let be a variety of algebras and let . Jónsson terms for are ternary terms such that satisfies the following identities:
- and .
- for every .
- for every even .
- for every odd .
Remarks
Jónsson's theorem says that is a congruence-distributive variety if and only if has Jónsson terms for some . Example: lattices have Jónsson terms with : , , . The checks are , , and . More generally, a majority term always gives Jónsson terms . Non-example: for groups, the terms , , are not Jónsson terms. Clause 2 fails for the middle term: in the group , the value differs from when .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
