Kaplan–Meier estimator

Definition
Let be right-censored observations of a lifetime. Here is the observed time, and if it is an event and if it is censored. Let be the distinct times with . For each , let be the number of events at and the number at risk just before . The Kaplan–Meier estimator of the survival function is with the empty product equal to .
Remarks
It is also called the product-limit estimator. Its variance is usually estimated by Greenwood's formula . If no observation is censored, , where is the empirical distribution function.
Example: take the observations , where is censored. Then is at , at and at . So on , on , on and from on.
Non-example: dropping the censored observation and using on gives on instead of . This ignores the information that the censored subject survived past , and it is biased downwards in general.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
