Laplace transform of distributions

Summary

The Laplace transform extends from functions to distributions supported in [0,∞)[0, \infty) that do not grow faster than an exponential. The extension gives meaning to transforms of generalized functions such as the Dirac delta and its derivatives: ℒδ=1\mathcal{L}\delta = 1 and ℒδ(k)=sk\mathcal{L}\delta^{(k)} = s^k. It makes the rule "differentiation becomes multiplication by ss" exact, with no initial-value terms, which is the natural setting for impulses in operational calculus.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
