Lattice congruence
Definition
Let be a lattice. A congruence on is an equivalence relation on such that, for all with and :
- ;
- .
Remarks
The quotient set is a lattice with and ; clauses 1 and 2 say that these operations are well defined. The kernel of a lattice homomorphism is a congruence, and every congruence is the kernel of the quotient map . Each class of a congruence is a convex sublattice of . Example: on the chain , the partition is a congruence. It is the kernel of the monotone map , , onto the chain . This map is a lattice homomorphism because join and meet in a chain are and . Non-example: on the lattice with and , incomparable, the partition is not a congruence. From and , clause 1 would give , that is , which is false.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
