Levi pseudoconvex domain
Builds on Levi form
Definition
Let be a domain with boundary, and let be a defining function of . For , let be the complex tangent space of at . The domain is Levi pseudoconvex if the Levi form of is positive semidefinite at every boundary point:
Remarks
The condition does not depend on the choice of , because another defining function multiplies the Levi form by a positive number. Example: every convex domain with boundary is Levi pseudoconvex. Indeed, for a convex domain the real Hessian of at is positive semidefinite on the real tangent space of at . For , both and lie in this tangent space, and is one quarter of the sum of the real Hessian at and at . Non-example: the domain fails at the inner sphere. There is a defining function, and for , . When the space is , so every planar domain with boundary is Levi pseudoconvex.
