Matched Z-transform method
Definition
Let be a sampling period. Let be a rational function of with nonzero leading constant , zeros and poles , listed with multiplicity: The matched Z-transform of is the following rational function of . The constant is chosen so that and agree at a chosen reference point. The usual choice is when is finite and nonzero.
Remarks
Example: with has one pole and . Its matched transform is , and gives . Non-example: , a pure delay, is not a rational function, so the method does not apply to it as stated. A pole with goes to with , so a stable continuous filter gives a stable discrete one. The map is the relation between the Z-transform of samples and the Laplace transform. Some versions add zeros at for the zeros of at infinity when .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
