Definition
Let and let be an -simplex in with vertices . Let be its circumcentre, the centre of its circumsphere. Let be its centroid. The Monge point of is
Remarks
For a tetrahedron, and , the reflection of in . In that case is the common point of the six planes through the midpoint of an edge perpendicular to the opposite edge.
For a triangle, and , which is the orthocentre. Example: the triangle with vertices , and has and . Then , the vertex of the right angle, which is indeed the orthocentre.
Non-example: for a segment, , the factor is undefined, so a -simplex has no Monge point.
For a regular tetrahedron, , so the Monge point is the centre.
