Neville theta functions

Summary

The Neville theta functions θs\theta_s, θc\theta_c, θd\theta_d, θn\theta_n are rescaled Jacobi theta functions. Their argument is the argument uu of the Jacobi elliptic functions. With this normalisation the Jacobi functions are simple quotients: sn⁡=θs/θn\operatorname{sn} = \theta_s/\theta_n, cn⁡=θc/θn\operatorname{cn} = \theta_c/\theta_n and dn⁡=θd/θn\operatorname{dn} = \theta_d/\theta_n. The letters s,c,d,ns, c, d, n match the letters in the names of the twelve Jacobi functions, so any Jacobi function pq⁡\operatorname{pq} is θp/θq\theta_p/\theta_q.
