Nijenhuis tensor

Summary

Let JJ be a field of endomorphisms of the tangent bundle. Its Nijenhuis tensor is a tensor field of type (1,2)(1,2) built from JJ and the Lie bracket of vector fields. It is, up to a factor 22, the Frölicher–Nijenhuis bracket of JJ with itself. For an almost complex structure, it measures the obstruction to integrability. By the Newlander–Nirenberg theorem, an almost complex structure comes from a complex manifold structure exactly when its Nijenhuis tensor vanishes.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
