Oscillatory integral

Summary

An oscillatory integral is an integral of the form ∫eiλϕ(x)ψ(x) dx\int e^{i\lambda\phi(x)} \psi(x) \, dx. Here ϕ\phi is a real phase function, ψ\psi is an amplitude and λ\lambda is a large real parameter. The main question is how fast it decays as λ→∞\lambda \to \infty, which depends on the critical points of ϕ\phi. Fourier transforms of measures on curved surfaces, Bessel functions and solutions of dispersive equations are all oscillatory integrals. Their estimates are basic tools in harmonic analysis, number theory and PDE.

What this page needs for W1

  • an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
  • a source with a locator (0 of 1)

The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
