Peak function
Builds on Holomorphic function of several variablesStrongly pseudoconvex domain
Definition
Let be a bounded domain and let . A peak function for at is a function such that:
- is continuous on and holomorphic on .
- .
- for every .
The point is a peak point of if a peak function at exists.
Remarks
Example: on the unit ball , let and . Then , and on , with equality only if , which forces . Non-example: on the bidisc , the point is not a peak point. Suppose satisfies the three clauses. The function is holomorphic on the open unit disc, as a locally uniform limit of the functions for . It has modulus at most and reaches the modulus at the interior point , so it is the constant by the maximum modulus principle, against clause 3. Every boundary point of a bounded strongly pseudoconvex domain with smooth boundary is a peak point.
