Definition
Let be a variety of algebras. A Pixley term for is a ternary term such that satisfies the identities
Remarks
The first two identities say that is a Mal'cev term. The term is then a majority term: , and . Pixley's theorem says that has a Pixley term if and only if is an arithmetical variety. Example: for Boolean algebras, is a Pixley term. Indeed , , and . Non-example: for groups, the Mal'cev term is not a Pixley term. In the group , the third identity would read , which fails for .

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
- a source with a locator (0 of 1)
The writing levels say how complete the text of a page is. They do not measure its truth.
