Polar set
Builds on Subharmonic function
Definition
Let and let . The set is polar if there is a subharmonic function on , not identically , such that
Remarks
Example: in , the function is subharmonic, not identically , and equals exactly at , so is polar. In with the function plays the same role. A countable union of polar sets is polar, so every countable subset of is polar.
Non-example: the segment in is not polar, because it has positive logarithmic capacity .
Polarity is a local property. A set is polar if and only if each point of has a neighbourhood with the following property. Some subharmonic function on , not identically on any component, equals on . For Borel sets, being polar is equivalent to having capacity zero. A polar set has Lebesgue measure zero.

What this page needs for W1
- an inventory row: the row of the inventory that the node accounts for (0 of 1)
